What causes mold in vehicles

There are several factors that cause mold in vehicles to understand these factors lets discuss what mold needs to grow.

  • Moisture

Most leaks occur due to non proper maintenance, I.E. door jams and gutter build up which prevents proper sealing of your doors, not maintaining you sunroof drains which most people dont know you need to do! But moisture can also come from spilling liquids and not properly drying up.

  • Energy

Mold can form on alot of things! Some times people will spill food, or drinks. Sometimes people are moving soil and mulch. These are just somethings that can help give mold energy to star growing. So keeping your vehicle clean does help!

  • Time

Under the right conditions it takes mold 3 days to start growing, this does not mean you will see it though but given longer time to grow it can be everywhere! When you start seeing it dont ignore it, same thing if you smell mildew make sure you do something.

Where can moisture come from?

  • Most leaks we see offer after a wreck or from a clogged sunroof drain! Others that are less common are door seals, ac drain lines, and sometimes the fire wall. If your vehicle has a leak dry it out and fix it fast.

  • Mold gains most of it moisture from humidity so if your vehicle is wet inside make sure you get it under cover and roll the windows down in hopes of letting out the humidity.

  • Most people under estimate spills but when left unchecked this could result in mold groth aswell. Always clean up spills.

What can give the mold Energy to grow

Energy in this case is another word for food, so when you eat in your vehicle the occasional dropping of a fry, but this is not the only thing small particles like human skin, dirt, and even the materials used to build your vehicle could be a source.

How Much Time Does It Take For Mold To Grow

Mold can start forming under the right conditions in three days! This does not mean you will be able to see it that fast though!
